Eagle County: wildfire programs and mitigation help
REALFire® assessments + Wildfire Hazard Rating on permits
Eagle County pairs free REALFire® home assessments (which also connect residents with mitigation funding) with a real regulatory hook: a Wildfire Hazard Rating is required for all new builds and projects that change square footage or alter an exterior. Moderate or higher ratings trigger required wildfire inspections and a $200 permit fee (roofing excluded).
| Permit trigger | Wildfire Hazard Ratings are required for all new residential/commercial builds and projects changing square footage or altering an exterior. Ratings run low to extremely high based on vegetation, water access, ingress/egress, power lines, and construction materials. |
|---|---|
| Moderate+ rating | Wildfire inspections are required and a $200 permit fee applies (excludes roofing permits). Schedule via (970) 328-8816 / katie.jenkins@eaglecounty.us. |
| Free assessment | The REALFire® Program provides free property assessments and connects participants with funding for their own mitigation projects. |
